It's December, which means it's time for one of my favorite annual pastimes: reading best-of-the year lists!

Most lists are highly subjective, but I always look forward to Spotify's personalized "Your Top Songs" playlist because it's based purely on numbers: the top 100 songs I listened to over the past year. I discovered mine today and it's been like listening to a soundtrack of all the year's emotions, both good and bad.

I'm not going to share my full list, because I think it's probably a snooze to listen to 100 of someone else's top songs, but I did think my top five were interesting (I'm also linking to YouTube just in case you don't use Spotify and want to experience my musical taste... also because these videos are great):

The thing that stands out the most to me here: TWO Jens Lekmans but no Bowie?! Well, he did show up at number six:

Still, kind of a deep cut! I guess I'm really branching out.

This is also good evidence of when I use Spotify the most: when I'm at work, trying to stay awake and joyful. (Although if I'm really trying to concentrate, I turn off Spotify and use Noisli.)

I haven't listened to my other customized year-end playlist yet, "The Ones That Got Away," but I'm excited to get into it.
